Who We Are

Shinobu Taylor

Pilates Instructor, Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant

Shinobu is a STOTT PILATES® certified instructor (Mat and all apparatuses, including Reformer, Cadillac, Stability Chair, and Barrels) with advanced education in Injuries and Special Populations, advanced reformer. She also holds certification in Total Barre®. When she began Pilates instructor training, her intention was to become certified in Mat, but she became so fascinated by the depth of the Pilates method that she continued to full apparatus training, completing all the Level 1 training in December 2018 while still working full-time in her corporate career.

The aspect of Pilates that Shinobu appreciates most is the versatility of the exercises. There are so many ways to modify the repertoire, from gentle exercises for rehabilitation to intensive workouts for professional athletes. Learning the Pilates method increased her interest in rehabilitation, leading her to move from the corporate sector to focus on the field of rehabilitation. She earned Associate of Applied Science degree with Physical Therapist Assistant program in Whatcom Community College and became licensed physical therapist assistant in June 2022. She is currently working at occupational rehabilitation clinics in greater Seattle area. Pilates literally changed her life!

Before her corporate career, Shinobu studied dance (jazz, ballet, and modern) in Japan and New York. She danced professionally on stage and on television, and she choreographed and taught dance at local musical theaters and fitness clubs in Japan. While balancing a busy life with two small children, Shinobu still makes time to enjoy dancing in many forms including pole dancing. She attributes improvements in her dance performance to the core strength gained through Pilates training. Additional positive effects of training include improved body alignment and a weight loss of approximately 10 pounds. Shinobu is excited to share all the positive experiences of Pilates with clients.
